Loaded Fries with OmniPork & Cheese

Making homemade fries is not difficult at all, and you don’t need to fry them. Just follow the steps, and you can make crispy and delicious fries!

To achieve crispy fries, you don’t necessarily need to deep-fry them. Baking can also produce a crispy result. To make the fries even crisper, soak them in cold water (ice water is even better) before baking. The principle is simple: soaking in cold water removes excess starch from the surface of the fries, which helps prevent them from sticking together and maximizes crispiness. Of course, after soaking, you must thoroughly dry the fries; otherwise, they won’t become crispy no matter how you bake them.

These baked fries, paired with omipork and vegan cheddar cheese, are entirely plant-based but incredibly delicious. They can definitely satisfy even the meat lover’s cravings!

Ingredients (serve 2)

Omnipork

1 package

Potato

3 bulbs

Olive Oil

3 tbsp

Sea Salt

2 tsp

Ice Water

1 bowl

Daiya Vegan Cheese

150 g

Greek Yoghurt

to taste

Parsley (chopped)

1 sprig

Steps

1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into fries about 6mm thick.

2. Fill a bowl with cold water and soak the fries for 30 minutes. After soaking, drain the water and thoroughly dry the fries with paper towels or a cloth. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 190°C.

3. After drying the fries, toss them with 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 teaspoons of sea salt until evenly coated. Spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper

4. Place the fries in the oven and bake at 190°C for 20 minutes. Then increase the temperature to 220°C and continue baking until golden brown (about 20-25 more minutes).

5.While the fries are baking, heat a pan over medium heat with a small amount of cooking oil. Add the new pork and cook for 5 minutes until it turns into ‘ground meat.’ Set aside

6. Remove the fries from the oven and place them on a plate. Top with the new pork and vegan cheese, then return to the oven and bake until the cheese melts.

7. Finally, top with some Greek yogurt and fresh parsley to enjoy!
