How to Clean Squid?

For beginners, handling squid can be quite challenging. How should you cut it for the best results? How do you clean it properly? And how can you achieve a curled effect when cutting? Let me guide you through the steps to handle squid!




Steps

 
1. First, separate the squid head from the body (including the tentacles) and pull out the soft cartilage. For the squid body, remove the eyes and the beak (the two hard pieces on the mouth).

2. Peel off the outer skin.

3. Remove the two wings on the head as well. Rinse thoroughly.

4. On one side of the squid, make a cut from top to bottom in the center

5. Flatten the squid, holding the knife at a 45-degree angle. Lightly score the squid with the knife from top to bottom.

6. Rotate the squid 90 degrees, and continue scoring at a 45-degree angle, creating a crosshatch pattern on the squid.

7. Finally, cut the squid into the desired size.
