After watching "Culinary Class Wars", I felt a surge of motivation to recreate every dish featured in the show! One of the most talked-about desserts is undoubtedly the Chestnut Tiramisu.
How to Make Chestnut Tiramisu?
The method for making this Chestnut Tiramisu is very simple. Since the theme of the show revolves around convenience store products, the chef came up with a way to create Tiramisu using various simple ingredients. This version differs significantly from the traditional method, as it does not include eggs and does not require making a sabayon. Instead, it combines ready-made chestnuts with milk to create a chestnut puree, which is then mixed with cream cheese and fresh cream to form a "chestnut sabayon".
Next, you create a base using digestive biscuits soaked in latte, layering it with the chestnut mixture. Finally, top it off with grated chocolate and toasted granola, and it's ready to enjoy!
Is Netflix's Official Recipe Incorrect?
Before making this dessert, I searched for some recipes online and discovered that Netflix Korea had released an official recipe for this sweet treat. However, upon reviewing it, I noticed a few discrepancies. First, it didn’t specify the weight of the chestnut snacks, and second, it mentioned using 500 ml of milk. In my opinion, if you followed this recipe, the resulting chestnut puree would be excessively runny. Therefore, I made some slight adjustments to the original recipe, modifying the quantities of the ingredients. If you follow my recipe, you’ll be able to successfully create the Chestnut Tiramisu.
More Like a Cheesecake than Tiramisu?
Indeed, since this dessert includes cream cheese, its texture and flavour resemble that of a cheesecake rather than a Tiramisu. Especially after refrigerating it overnight, the texture becomes firmer, and the traditional Tiramisu flavor is virtually absent. However, being able to create a dessert that balances both taste and presentation using convenience store products is no small feat, and BigBoy truly appreciates that.
Overall, when you taste it on the same day after making it, you’ll experience a smooth texture, complemented by the rich chestnut aroma throughout the dessert. If you’re a fan of chestnuts, it’s definitely worth a try! Be sure to watch the video below! Scroll down for a more detailed written recipe and instructions.
